“Ears to Hear.” Living the Parables of Jesus

This summer our preaching series will be on the parables of Jesus. Believe it or not, approximately 1/3 of Jesus’ teaching is in the form of a parables. These parables range from brief sayings to short stories that makes a comparison (usually with the kingdom of God) in order to provoke a moral, social, or spiritual truth. Jesus taught in parables in order to provoke people to think about something in a new way — often with a message that people did not want to hear. When we approach the parables this summer, we need to have the right attitude (a willingness to hear their message) that leads to right action (living them out in our daily lives). Or as Jesus says… “He who has ears, let him hear!”
