“For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself'” (Galatians 5:14).

When Jesus was asked what was the most important command, he actually responded with two: “The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these” (Mark 12:29-31). What was so revolutionary was how Jesus connected the love of God with love of our neighbour. Most at that time defined loving God as keeping the Torah; instead Jesus connected love
of God to love of neighbour. And that it is through loving our neighbour that we demonstrate our love for God (see Gal 5:14; Romans 13:9, James 2:8). Jesus extends our love to even include enemies (Matt 5:43-44; Luke 6:27, 35) and redefines who is our neighbour in the Parable of the “Good Samaritan” (Luke 10:29-37).

At Greenfield we seek to love and serve our neighbours and those in our networks. We do this more formally as part of the Neighbourhood Care Network, or as we together participate in our Refugee Resettlement Program, but also informally as we individually engage with our next door neighbours and those in our network of friends and acquaintances.
