2026 Ministry Council Nominations
We have two individuals who have been nominated to serve on the Ministry Council: Shea Kidd and Conni Pohl. In addition, Sheldon Gitzel was added to the Ministry Council in February 2026 to fill a vacancy created by a resignation (as per section 6.6.5 of our Constitution). All three individuals will be brought to the membership for a vote of affirmation at our Congregational Business Meeting on June 7, 2026.
Sheldon Gitzel has been a Greenfield attendee since 1998 when his family moved to Edmonton from his home province of Saskatchewan (Go ‘Riders!). During that time he has served in several positions including care group leader, Sunday school teacher, ministry council member, and prayer team member. Sheldon has Bachelor degrees from Briercrest Bible College and the University of Saskatchewan. Prior to moving to Edmonton, Sheldon worked as teacher at the junior and senior high school levels for several years. Since moving to Edmonton he has worked as a business advisory consultant, supporting organizations with their financial software systems. Sheldon enjoys a variety of games and sporting endeavours including curling. He has been married to Jeanette for over 35 years and is proud to be dad to Jordan and Kristin. Sheldon enjoys working as part of a team and collaborating with others in service.
Shea Kidd. For the past six years, Greenfield Church has been a foundational part of my life. It is the community that was instrumental in my coming to faith, and that personal experience drives my desire to serve on the Ministry Council. Having been welcomed and mentored here, I am deeply motivated to help ensure that others who walk through our doors have that same life-changing experience of grace and community. My wife, Kaitlyn, and I are fully committed to the life of this church. Over the years, I have sought out ways to give back and grow alongside our church family, specifically through my involvement in the Youth and Alpha ministries. These roles have given me a front-row seat to how our church impacts lives, and they have fueled my passion for evangelism and discipleship. To better equip myself for leadership, I completed the CORE3 program and am currently a Master of Arts student in Theology. This academic focus, paired with my professional experience in aquatic service and operations, has prepared me to contribute to the council with both a heart for ministry and a practical mindset. I am eager to help steward the future of Greenfield, supporting the mission of a church that has given so much to me and my family.
Conni Pohl. I was raised by parents who spent most of their lives in Christian ministry and was baptized by my grandpa at age 11. After high school, I attended Peace River Bible Institute, earning a diploma in Christian Studies before returning to Edmonton and marrying my husband, Brian (we say he won the arm wrestle when choosing which church to attend) and we settled at GCC 20 plus years ago. At home, I run a photography and wedding videography business while raising four pretty awesome kids (2 of them now adults). Over the years, I’ve served in various ministry areas, including youth and Ladies Morning Out – first at Ellerslie Road Baptist, and then with the LMO program here! I’m so thankful for the community of GCC and that God has faithfully used the people here at Greenfield to speak into my life through many transitions and seasons.

The Birth of the King – Advent & Christmas 2025

This Advent at Greenfield we are going back to the beginning of the Gospel of Matthew to explore his account of the birth of Jesus. From the lineage of the King to his flight to Egypt and return, Matthew’s story highlights Jesus’ royal birth as the true messiah of Israel.
Join us Sunday mornings at 10am during Advent as we explore the Gospel of Matthew in our sermon series “The Birth of the King” (you may also see sermons here).
Our special Christmas Eve Candlelight Service on 4 pm on Wednesday December 24th (it will also be livestreamed on our YouTube Channel here).
We also recognize that Christmas is not an easy time of year for some, so we are joining with Dayspring Presbyterian for a joint Blue Christmas Service on Thursday December 18th at 7pm. This service will be at Greenfield and is a quiet reflective service.
Join us as we anticipate and celebrate the coming of our King Jesus this season.
