Brazil Sister Church Partnership
The leadership of Greenfield is looking at establishing a long-term Sister-Church Partnership in
southern Brazil through our connections with our NAB mission partners Lyndell & Paulo Requia
and Chain of Love. This partnership would give us an opportunity to develop a relationship
with a church plant and it would be the context in which would we send future short-term
mission teams. In order to discern whether this partnership is the right next step for Greenfield
and the church plant in Brazil, we are planning a visioning trip with a small, intergenerational
team that will travel to Brazil in July 2025.
Update: April 9, 2025
The team has been formed and flights and accommodation have been booked! Our visioning team consists of 10 people: 3 staff, 3 ministry council, 4 congregation members.
The team will travel to Brazil on July 9, 2025 and finish our time on site on July 17, 2025. While in Brazil, we will have conversations with the local pastor, spend time at Chain of Love and explore some of the local area to help shape a Sister Church Partnership proposal that will be brought back to the congregation later in 2025.
We’ll be based in and around the city of Porto Alegre, the capital city of the state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil. It is the home base for Paulo and Lyndell and about an hour drive to Chain of Love.
We have begun meeting as a team to prepare ourselves for the travel and ministry time in Brazil. Our meetings consist of sharing our testimonies with one another, having in depth conversations about the ministries of Chain of Love and the NAB’s involvement in Brazil along with learning about Brazil’s culture and language.
Next Steps
As we discern whether this partnership is something that God is inviting us into, we invite the broader church to be on this discernment journey with us.
- Prayer Support: Prayer coverage is a key way everyone in our church can be involved in this discernment process. Please be in prayer for our team members as they prepare for this trip, for Lyndell & Paulo as they pastor and lead in their church, for the church plants that have come from their church and the relationships between the leaders. We desire to be attentive and open to the Lord’s leading, before, during and after the visioning trip.
- Financial Support: While team members will be contributing towards the cost of the trip, we will also be doing some fundraising to help offset the costs. Fundraising is a way that we get to be involved in this together, as a church community. We will be hosting bake sales on April 13, 27, May 11 and 18 after our morning services as well as a silent auction May 3-4.
We will continue to share updates with the church community over the coming months. We are thankful for the support we have already received from the broader church community and we’re excited to see where this partnership will lead us as a church.
