Leaning into Lent
In the Christian calendar the season of Lent is the forty-day period leading up to Easter. It’s a period of preparation that culminates with the celebration of the very heart of our faith: Jesus’ death and resurrection. Lent is therefore a time of reflection, repentance, and renewal.
This year at Greenfield we will be “Leaning into Lent.” We will do this in a number of ways:
- Our Ash Wednesday Service will be at 7pm on March 5, 2025. This service will also be live-streamed from our webpage and at our YouTube channel here.
- On Sunday March 9, we will be starting a Lenten Sermon Series called, “Return to the Lord: A Call to Covenant Faithfulness from the Minor Prophets.”
- We are publishing a Leaning into Lent Devotional Guide (written by Greenfielders) to help us in our daily devotions throughout this season. Print copies can be picked up at the Welcome Centre (or downloaded as a PDF here).
- And then throughout Lent, we will hold weekly Lenten Prayer Meetings at 7pm each Thursday night (March 13, 20, 27; April 3, 10, 17). These will be creative times of prayer and worship led by different individuals.
- Our Good Friday Tenebrae Service will be at 10am on April 18.
Please join us as we “Lean into Lent” this year.
