This Sunday Pastor Tyler will be preaching on Revelation 20 in his sermon,     "Millennial Madness (or the Vindication of Martyrs, the Defeat of Satan, and Final Judgement)." For more information on our teaching series, Revelation: Following the Way of the Lambgo hereInformation for our Sunday Gatherings may be found on the YouVersion app (download here). 

 

Our gatherings are live-streamed from our webpage and at our YouTube channel (youtube.com/@GreenfieldCommunityChurch). Sermons are available from our website here; as well as through Apple PodcastSpotifyAmazon Audible, and Libsyn.  

 

Sunday School. This week, kids aged two to grade six will dismissed from the sanctuary to their classes about 30 minutes into our gathering. There will also be a Highschool Sunday School class upstairs in the boardroom. No Junior High class this week. If your child is grade three or under they will need to be picked up at their classroom at the end of our gathering. The nursery is open for the entirety of our Sunday Gatherings.

 

Easter. We will be having our Good Friday Tenebrae Service on Friday March 29 at 10am. Our Easter Sunday gathering on March 31 will include a joyous time of worship and the celebration of two baptisms.

Easter Choir. Sign up for our Easter Choir at the Welcome Centre. Rehearsal dates scheduled for Wednesday March 20 & 27 at 7pm, and Saturday March 30 at 10am. Any questions, email Kirsten.

 

Photo sessions for our photo directory are finished but you can email an up-to-date photo of yourself, individual family members and a family photo (portrait orientation, neutral background) to be included in the directory. Deadline to send photos is March 17.


Bros, Brews, and Bible. We have a couple things coming up in the month of April. First, we need to get a crew together to help Haroon & Reeba move into their new house on Saturday April 6th. Second, we are hosting Soup Sunday on Sunday April 7th... so let's see who can make the best chilli! For more information and to sign up for either event, please see our Church Center app here.


We need projection volunteers to help during our Sunday Gatherings! It's easy to learn and a great way to serve here at Greenfield. Email Kirsten to sign up.

 

Adult Education Course: Redeeming Human Sexuality. Registration closes this Friday at 10am. For more information and to register go here.

Greenfield Book Club.  Next meeting is March 26, 7:30pm upstairs in the boardroom. Dr. Will Van Arragon (Professor of History at King's) will join us as we discuss Mark Noll's The Civil War as a Theological Crisis. For more information and to be included on reminder emails, join the group here.

 

The next Hymn Sing will take place at Ellerslie Road Baptist Church (10603 Ellerslie Road SW) on Palm Sunday, March 24 at 6 pmPlease note that the time has moved back to a 6 pm start time during Daylight Savings time. Refreshments to follow, bring something to share (open face buns, sandwiches, desserts).  

 

Seniors Easter Lunch, April 3rd at 11:30AM. Come out for an Easter lunch and a time of gathering together. Sign up at the Welcome Centre or by contacting Pastor Chris.

 

January Financial Update. The numbers are in for January and we are running a deficit, which is normal for the first month of the year (though we are $8000 worse off than the same time last year).

NAB Triennial. Register for the 2024 Triennial, taking place in St. Paul, Minnesota, July 11–14, 2024. The theme of the 2024 Triennial is “Becoming a People of Peace.”

Camp Sunday is this Sunday! There are many summer camp opportunities in Alberta and on Sunday there will be camp representatives from various camps here to answer your questions! Click on any of the camp links here:  Camp CarolineLone Prairie Camp, Gull Lake CentreHastings Lake Bible CampAlberta Pioneer Camp, and Bethel Bible Camp.


The last White Cross work session will be held at the church building on Monday March 18 from 9:30-11:30am.  At these sessions we work on rolling bandages, cutting and bundling 4x4 absorbent squares, and cutting out baby diapers, blankets, and sleep sacks. White Cross work sessions are open to everyone of all ages. We are also looking for anyone who enjoys sewing to do some simple sewing projects at home.  Any questions, contact Teresa.

 

Neighbourhood Easter Dinner. The Neighbourhood Care Network (a partnership between Dayspring Presbyterian & Greenfield Community Church) is hosting a Neighbourhood Easter dinner on Saturday, March 23 at 6pm at Greenfield. The dinner is open to anyone who is connected to Greenfield Community Church or who lives in surrounding neighbourhoods. Join us and bring a neighbour! Register online or at the Welcome Centre by Sunday night.

 

If you are interested in giving some of your time to help make this dinner possible, we are looking for volunteers:

  • Kitchen helpers (March 22-23, during the day and evening)
  • Servers for the meal
  • Table hosts

Safe Families Information and Dessert Night, April 10th 7PM at Greenfield. Come on out, enjoy some dessert and learn more information about Safe Families and the work they do in our city.

 

Save the Date! Greenfield's Summer Kids Camp this year is running from July 29-August 2, 9am-noon and is for any kid aged 4 - grade 4. Registration opens in May. 

 

We are partnering with Dayspring Presbyterian to sponsor a refugee family to resettle in Edmonton. We are excited to announce that the Soudmand family has been approved to immigrate to Canada, and will be arriving in the next 3-6 months. We have committed $12,000 towards this project and have currently raised $6,350. If you would like to give to this project, indicate "Refugee Resettlement Fund" on your donation. Any funds raised beyond the $12,000 for this particular Dayspring project will be used toward future sponsorship opportunities through Greenfield. 


There are a number of Ukrainian newcomers who are looking for temporary hosts as they settle into life in Edmonton and figure out permanent housing. See here for details, if you are interested in hosting.
