The purpose of group ministry at Greenfield is to encourage people to come together in smaller communities of people to be on mission with God, grow in our love and knowledge of him, grow in our love for one another, and love and serve our neighbours.

We believe that Christian community at its core should be characterized by this threefold love:

  • Love for God (Up): worship God, prayer, learn from the Word.
  • Love for One Another (In): care for one another, eat together.
  • Love for Our Neighbour (Out): engaging with what God is doing in the community/city/world around us.

This threefold love should be intentionally fostered and in some way part of the DNA of all our groups. Groups are the primary way people can get connected and involved in Greenfield, as well as the way we can show God’s love to others.

There are three types of groups at Greenfield:

  • Life Groups — Groups where people meet regularly (usually in someone’s home) to live life together as we join God on mission. Life Groups are encouraged to be geographical, open to new people, and typically have a balanced UP:IN:OUT and a clear focus.
  • Learning Groups — Groups where people gather around a specific Bible Study or topic and seek to learn and grow together. As such, these groups have more of an UP focus, though are also encouraged to foster IN and OUT.  A Learning group specifically tailored to people interested in exploring the Christian faith is Alpha, while CORE3 is a more intensive discipleship course.
  • Connect Groups — Groups where people meet to support, encourage and have fun and serve together, i.e., to connect. Sometimes they gather to study or pray, other times to hang out and get to know one another.

If you are interested to join, host, or lead a Life Group, or would like more information about any of our groups, please email Pastor Sara-May at groups@greenfieldchurch.ca
